HOW IT GOES

A super pulls you aside at the site gate. Three sentences next to the ute, and your crew’s doing work that isn’t on any drawing. You price it when you get a minute. You submit it when the paperwork catches up. And somewhere near the end of the job it comes back — knocked back, half-paid, or “we never approved that”. The work was real. The direction was real. But the record doesn’t exist, so the version that wins is the one written by the bloke who owes you the money.

The clock starts next to the ute

Most head contracts bar your claim if notice isn’t given within days of the direction — a window that opens whether you knew it or not. The template captures who directed the work, when, and how, the moment it happens.

Their silence becomes a number

Every day the builder sits on your submission is a day you can point at. Dated submissions, dated revisions, dated chasers — the sitting time stops being a feeling and becomes a fact.

Walk in with the record, not a recollection

One page: the direction, every dated exchange, the deadlines in your contract and whether both sides met them. Useful in a negotiation, decisive in an adjudication room.

The notice window in many head contracts. Miss it and the work can be free. When did your clock start?

“We’re too small for this paperwork.” It’s one page, and the phone fills in most of it. The subbies who need it most are the ones without a contracts administrator.
“Won’t this put the builder offside?” A dated record protects both sides. The builders worth working for prefer subbies who keep one.
“Is this legal advice?” No. It’s a record. Your contract administrator or lawyer tells you what it means; we make sure it exists.
